Dr. Danielle Phillips-Cunningham is an associate professor of Multicultural Women’s and Gender Studies at Texas Woman’s University. She teaches courses on feminist and womanist theories, US women of colors, black feminist thought, the politics of motherhood, and women’s labors and migrations. Her research examines the history of race and women’s migrations and labors. More specifically, her current book project, Putting their hands on race: Irish immigrant and Southern African American Domestic Workers in the US Northeast is a comparative history of Irish immigrant and southern African American women who labored as domestic workers after having migrated to northeastern cities in the United States during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
